Choosing the Best Durability Carpet for Your Room
What is the best carpet for high traffic areas?
- Nylon or other durable carpet fibers
- Stain resistant
- Low pile
- Carpet squares
- Patterned or marble-colored carpet
Nylon is considered one of the most durable carpet fibers available, especially when it’s given stain resistant treatment. If you need that’ll be able to withstand high foot traffic, check out our selection of nylon carpet. Nylon carpet is perfect for hallways, living rooms, stairs, and other busy areas. Check out another blog post we wrote on this topic to learn what is the best carpet for stairs.
Keep in mind that while nylon is known for being highly durable, other materials may be better suited for your home. Our team can help you find the best durable carpet for your budget and style preferences.
Some of the best lifeproof carpet is stain resistant. Stain resistant carpet has been given a special treatment so spilled liquids sit on the surface instead of immediately seeping into carpet fibers. However, it’s important to know that is not invincible. You will need to immediately blot away spills as the liquid will eventually seep into your carpet flooring. Stain resistant carpet is great for homes with children and/or pets.
Pile refers to the height of the carpet fibers. For example, shag carpeting has tall carpet fibers to give it that plush look. If you’re looking for durable carpet, we recommend choosing styles that are low pile. The team at our carpet flooring store will be more than happy to help you browse our selection of lifeproof carpet.
Have you considered carpet squares for high traffic areas? Accidents happen, which is why it’s easier to buy extra carpet tiles in case of a spill. While it may not make sense to buy more carpet tiles that what you need, you’ll be grateful to have extra if you or someone else spills on your carpet.
It’s much easier (and less expensive) to replace one square than your entire carpet flooring. Most wall-to-wall carpet is installed in sections that are 12 feet wide. Carpet tiles, on the other hand, are installed one square at a time.
Patterned or Marble-Colored Carpet
While the color of your new carpet flooring won’t affect durability, it will affect how your carpet looks as it ages. If you have a bustling household, we recommend you choose carpet flooring that’s dark in color or has a pattern. Many commercial buildings have patterned carpet so stains are less visible.
If you’re interested in carpet that’s neutral, rather than patterned, we recommend choosing a gray carpet that’s marbled. Unlike solid dark carpets that’ll show lint and crumbs if you don’t vacuum regularly, marbled carpet is usually gray with a darker neutral color mixed in.
